"Back down under, and 'av found me'self at The Coastal Brewing Company in Forster, and before anyone gets clever, no, not that old-school Foster's Lager from 80's and 90's… different story altogether, even if they say it the same.
Reyt then… after a day kayaking on Wallis Lake, I headed over to Coastal Brewing, and by ’eck, what a spot this is. Forster’s proper little gem on the NSW Mid-North Coast, and this place has got it just reyt… laid-back, the man behind the bar supports Sunderland, but we won't let that impact the Pint review.
Now then, this Long Island English Summer Ale… that’s a tidy drop. Pours a lovely light golden colour, with a soft head sat on't top. First sip — bit of gentle malt sweetness, then them floral hops just drift in, nowt too sharp, just nice and balanced. No messing about, no showing off… just an easy drinker that does exactly what it says on't tap room menu.
It’s one of them pints that suits the day, bit of sun, good company, and before you know it I’m halfway through and thinkin’ about the next one. Proper session ale, that.
Not flashy, not fussy, just a cracking pint that knows exactly what it is. By ’eck… that’s how beer should be".

Reyt little spot, The Tunnel Tap, named after the Totley Tunnel connecting Sheffield to Manchester by train, and it’s got that proper northern character running straight through it.
Friendly staff that make you feel like you’ve been coming in for 30 years, even if it’s your first pint. It’s one of those places where strangers turn into familiar faces by second round… just how a pub should be.
Nipped out to Pontas Chippy a few doors up, ordered fish and chips, and had just enough time to wander back t’ut pub for a swift one while waiting, 20 minutes well spent, that.
Locals are spot on, proper welcoming, and there’s that cracking old 90’s pub vibe about it… none of this eatery nonsense, just good beer, good people, and good times. Cheers to that

Aussie Mozza, known to a select few by his birth name Maurice (which we strongly advise against using), operates strictly under the name Mozza.
Mozza brings a proven track record in social engagement, long-format pub sessions, barbecue attendance, and elite-level beer appreciation. He represents the Australian equivalent of Pom Pete, maintaining the same commitment to quality beverages, with a distinctly local twist.
Key interests include beer, steak, and unwavering support for the Parramatta Eels, regardless of current ladder position. And being a NSW Blues fan he would never give a XXXX a slurp.

Ey up, Pom Pete’s Pint of t’Week comes from just across t’bridge today, wi’ a trip over to Pacific Ocean Brewery in Tuncurry. Met up wi’ Aussie Mozza for a few arrows at darts, and then settled in wi’ a pint o’ ‘The Guvnor’ aye, they say I'm a Bitter Man, and they'd be reyt, this pint is pronounced in a proper London Cockney accent, and spelt bang on correct an’ all.
Now then… this bitter’s a reyt tidy drop. Deep amber colour wi’ crystal clear shine, lookin’ every bit like a proper English pub pint should. First sip gives thi rich caramel, toffee and toasted bread flavours, then tha gets little hints o’ pear an’ citrus floatin’ through nicely. Them East Kent Goldings an’ Fuggle hops bring a lovely earthy floral finish that keeps it smooth as owt.
Sessionable? By‘eck yes. One pint turns into two quicker than Mozza can miss double tops.
This one’s made for proper pub grub too, sausages, pies, roasted meats, smoky flavours, sharp cheddar… or even a hearty stew if tha feels fancy, today I went woodfire pizza. Absolute cracker of a bitter down under, and proof tha doesn’t need to be sat in Sheffield or London to find a proper English ale done reyt.
